Windows 8 vs Ubuntu linux 12.04 - Which is best?

Windows 8 vs Ubuntu linux : Which is best?

--> As the release of windows 8 is going to happen by 2012 end, there is a big discussion about windows 8 vs ubuntu linux. Will windows 8 draw linux users to its kingdom? Windows 8 features vs ubuntu linux features,Which will satisfy the new generation of tablet users?

With windows 8 microsoft is deviating its attention from pc users,Its concentrating on tablet users knowing that it is the next generation of personal computers. At the same time ubuntu tablets have been released to the market.

Here we are discussing about some of the new features in windows 8 that should be paid attention by the ubuntu linux developers

Metro User Interface

This is the most interesting change in windows 8 from the old look windows xp,vista and 7.Linux developers have put attention in developing gnome 3 which will play almost the same role in linux. But ubuntu developers are still on their own unity interface which has to go further to make its role.

Windows 8 does not close Apps
First i thought that i was somewhere wrong when tried to close metro style apps. Then i realized that its the technique microsoft has brought to reduce their launch time when those apps are opened again.

Faster boot times
--> It is another wonderful thing microsoft has worked a lot.Windows 8 boot time is the fastest in the history of windows os.My windows 8 system boots in around 10 seconds. "windows 8 vs ubuntu linux, boot time comparison, which boots faster? Definitely the answer is Windows 8 boots faster than ubuntu linux.

Only 256 mb ram for windows 8?
Microsoft claims that windows 8 will work smoothly on even a 256mb ram pc.Many users with old computers will be happy about this news since even ubuntu requires the same for fast experience.

New features of Ubuntu 12.04 aka Precise Pangolin
  • · Unity 3D interface 5.10
  • · Unity 2D interface 5.10
