GNOME 3.6 Released with new features

Gnome 3 team has announced the release of the latest update of Gnome.Gnome 3.6 is the third major update of Gnome 3 which was released in April 2011.This new release is the result of six months of development.From the release announcement:"The GNOME Foundation is proud to present this latest GNOME release, and I would like to congratulate the GNOME community on its achievement This new GNOME release includes important new features, like improved accessibility support, the new Boxes application and extended Online Accounts integration.GNOME 3.6 provides a stronger, easier to use foundation for the enterprise desktop".Read the full press release here.

--> Fedora 17 comes with gnome 3.4.As far as my experience fedora provides better gnome 3 experience than opensuse default.Fedora now acts like a flagship of gnome 3.

Gnome 3.4.1 released officcially



Gnome 3.4.1 released officcially

--> Gnome developer team has released the latest stable version gnome 3.4.1 on april 18.
It includes bug fixes,translations updates and tiny improvements.The GNOME 3.4 desktop environment will receive another maintenance release, GNOME 3.4.2, in one month, on May 16th, 2012. This will be the last point release for GNOME 3.4, as the developers will start working on the next major version, GNOME 3.6.

Want to test gnome 3.4.1? Download gnome 3.4 Live images
To write the downloaded image to a USB drive do the following steps
  1. Insert your usb drive
  2. Run dmesg in a terminal: this will give you the location of the usb device in square brackets, such as sdb
  3. To write the downloaded  image, run sudo dd if=GNOME-3.4.iso of=/dev/DRIVE bs=8M conv=fsync, replacing DRIVE with the location of your usb device.
  4. Once the write operation has finished, you can reboot with the USB drive inserted.
