Here's a quick overview of some of the details associated with this release: the Chromium stable repository is now enabled by default; a very light theme and default artwork; fewer default web applications in the menu as we feel that we'd rather not clog everything up by default; ships with GWoffice by default - this is a desktop Google Docs client that is lightweight and runs completely independent of Chromium; GIMP 2.8 is in the Peppermint repository; Linux Mint's update manager...." · Uprobes: userspace probes;
· Seccomp-based system call filtering;
· Bufferbloat fighting: CoDel queue management;

Download GParted LiveCD 0.13.0-0 Officially released

--> Steven Shiau has released a new version of GParted Live, a live CD based on the Debian unstable release with graphical tools for disk management and data recovery.
Gparted is an OS with primary aim to provide tools for partitioning hard disks in an intuitive, graphical environment. The distribution uses X.Org, the light-weight Fluxbox window manager.GParted LiveCD runs on most of the x86 machines with a Pentium II or better.
 From the changelog and the release announcement: "The underlying GNU/Linux operating system is based on the Debian sid repository (as of 2012/Jul/14). The most significant enhancement is with GParted 0.13.0, which now shows when there is a difference between the file system size and the partition size. Thanks to work by Mike Fleetwood this resolves bug #499202 that has been open since 2007. With this new feature, users can learn if there is unallocated space within a partition that can then be put to good use. Another important application change is a fix for bug #678831 which resolves a problem with overlapping partitions when resizing an extended partition. Also new in this release: adds web browser icon to desktop; adds menu button keyboard shortcut to bring up Fluxbox root menu (bug #578842); useful when using GParted Live without a mouse; updates Linux kernel to 3.2.21-3."  Read the full release announcement here release announcement

"Ubuntu" is an ancient African word, meaning "humanity to others".Ubuntu developers spread this message to the tech world.Ubuntu is sponsored by Canonical PVT Ltd.The curremt version of Ubuntu is 12.04 called as Precise pangolin.Kubuntu is nothing but Ubuntu core with KDE interface.So there is nothing much difference in the architecture but the look and feel are different.
Ubuntu 12.04 uses Ubuntu's own Unity interface while Kubuntu uses KDE 4.8 version as the default desktop inerface.KDE environment has improved a lot after thousands of bug fixing.It is graphically more attractive to the users especially who are coming from the Windows or OS X platform.Unity also has improved a lot but it has faded after the release of Gnome 3 since many of the Ubuntu users started using Ubuntu with gnome 3.Lubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin uses the ultra fast LXDE desktop environment.LXDE is a newbie in the Linux but it has become popular due to its simplicity and speed.LXDE enviroment is the fastest one among the others and it is very simple and looks good.
Xubuntu 12.04 is based on XFCE desktop environment and it is faster than Gnome 3, Unity and KDE 4.8 .Xubuntu doesn't look great but it is worth for the speed it gives.Lets take a look at the features all these Ubuntu 12.04 variants.

Lubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin

Lightest and fastest among all the Ubuntu sisters. Unfortunately, it is not an LTS, as it has only 18 months of support, just like a regular release.If you have an old computer with low specs, Lubuntu is the perfect option for you. It is rich in pre-loaded softwares and you can install what-ever softwares you like from the Ubuntu repository.

Xubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin

It is nothing but Ubuntu core based on extremely light XFCE desktop and super fast. Those who have low RAM old systems, Xubuntu is for them. Also,for those who hate heavy interfaces likeUnity,KDE or Gnome. It comes with Adobe Flash & GIMP pre-installed, which is a good idea by the Xubuntu developers. I installed Libreoffice along with Abiword and Gnumeric as Libreoffice offers more functionality. Repository wise no worry - all the Ubuntu softwares are available all of these Ubuntu siblings.

Conclusion

Who's the winner among the different Ubuntus?
It is difficult to say since it depends on your system,needs etc. If you have an old system with low specifications then Lubuntu or Xubuntu can be a better choice.

If you have a modern computer with average specs, Ubuntu and Kubuntu would be the preferred distro. If you like eye-candies like windows or OSX then Kubuntu will be a better choice.I feel the same with Gnome 3 experience on Ubuntu. If you are a beginner and do not want lot of customization and all definitely you can go for Ubuntu.
