where is mint?
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteWell, I didn't find Crunchbang, Mint, Fedora with Xfce or LDKE. They are suitable with netbooks and should go for it. It's worth it.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Lubuntu is the best distro for netbooks. With zram installed is realy unbeatable. Super fast, modern, robust and very easy to use.
ReplyDeleteLinux mint 13 xfce is actually performing very good on my asus eee 1005ha. Memory usage is low. It is quite snappy and responsive. Everything like flash/codecs/basic apps are all set. IMO I was researching to see if there were benefits in using a minimalistic distro like joli, #!, etc. Some of the recommendations such as ubuntu latest release are a bit disheartening as it is a bit sluggish on my netbook. I'm not sure why LM13XFCE isn't topping the charts here... prove me wrong?
ReplyDeleteOther lightweight Linux distros are indeed available. I particularly like the performance of Xcfe variants. However, Ubuntu's Unity Interface is ALSO optimized for the shorter-wider screen of most netbooks. The downside, it takes some time getting used to, I'm kind of an "old dog" who's gone tired of learning all the different OSes over the years. Lubuntu won me over, despite the traditional layout.
